Privacy Policy
This policy explains how SafeServe — operated by Tiaki Senior, a sole trader in Nelson, New Zealand — collects, uses and protects personal information. We handle personal information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
1Information we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, and the business (café) you register.
- The records you enter: your Food Control Plan records — which can include staff names, training details and signatures, temperatures, cleaning, suppliers and similar. Some of this is personal information about your staff.
- Payment details: your subscription is billed through Stripe. Stripe handles your card details — we receive confirmation of payment and invoices, but we do not see or store your full card number.
- Technical information: basic data needed to run the service securely (for example, login sessions).
2How we use it
- To provide SafeServe and keep your records available to you and your verifier.
- To set up and manage your subscription, and send invoices and service emails (such as email verification and password resets).
- To provide support when you ask for it.
- To keep the service secure and meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we don’t use your records for advertising.
3Who we share it with
We only share information with the providers we need to run the service, and only as far as needed:
- Stripe — to process subscription payments.
- Email delivery (SMTP2GO) and Cloudflare — to send service emails and deliver the site securely.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it. Your records are hosted on our own server in New Zealand.
4Storage, security and retention
- We store your information securely and limit access to it.
- Food-safety records generally must be kept for around 4 years, so we retain them for that period so you stay compliant.
- You can export your records at any time, and ask us to delete information we’re not legally required to keep.
5Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Email [email protected] and we’ll help. If you’re not satisfied with how we’ve handled your information, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
6Cookies
SafeServe uses only the minimal storage needed to keep you logged in and make the app work. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.
7Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a significant change we’ll let you know by email or in the app. The “last updated” date above shows the current version.
